Dafton Football competition ended in an eventful manner as Golden Machine FC Iseyin edged through against competition favorites, Novas FC Okeho in a keenly contested final.
At full time, both teams had put 1 goal each on the scoreboard before the match proceded to penalties, ending 3 : 4 in favour of the visiting team from Iseyin.
The competion sponsored by Mukadam Issa Aruhullahi Olowoogan Awayewaserere (Omo esan) has consistently generated a huge following as football lovers daily throng LA Primary School Isia to thrill themselves to a glorious time of soccer since the competion started.
The first half goal from Olona Waliu of Golden Machine FC was cancelled out by Bolaji Joseph of Novas FC Okeho in the second half before the match proceded to penalties.
Although unsatisfied with the outcome of the final match that had his team clinch the second place position, Novas FC coach, Akinwale Akeem Akin Seye popularly called coach Sidwell was full of praise for his team, and for the sponsor of the competition.
“We have 4 local government in this competition, that is, Kajola, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, and Iseyin local government. We all play distinct patterns of football in the 4 local governments. It is a unique opportunity for our boys to be motivated and to interact with their peers outside Kajola local government, he explained.
While sending his love th the coaches, referees, fans and security officers, he further encouraged, “people of good will to sponsor similar programs to engage our youths and move Okeho forward.”
Dafton football competition ended on the 2nd of January but already has football lovers talking about how much they anticipate similar competitions in the future.
The winners of the competition take home a modest N50’000, the second placed team received N30,000, third place received N20,000 while fourth place received N10, 000.
