Structure and Functions
Okeho Council of Elders (hereinafter referred to as Council) is an advisory body of Okeho indigenes who have demonstrated commitment to the progress and development Okeho.
The Council is made up of men and women advanced in age and with vast experience in communal affairs, and composition must be sensitive to the communal character and demographics of Okeholand.
There shall be periodic meetings, on a quarterly basis, between the Council and Kabiyesi-in-Council.
The Council shall advise the Egbe Omo Ibile and Kabiyesi, Onjo of Okeho, on important matters concerning the peace, progress, and development of Okeholand. These include, but are not limited to honorary chieftaincy titles.
The Council shall intervene in matters of importance to prevent any communal crisis within the town.
The Council shall initiate ideas, and share same with Kabiyesi and Egbe omo Ibile Okeho, on the peace, progress, and development of Okeholand.
Members of the Council shall serve at the pleasure of Egbe Omo Ibile Okeho, which shall, in consultation with Okeho Stakeholders’ Forum, fill vacancies in the Council as may be needed.
