Waheed Adeleke, the former Chairman of Iseyin Local Government led stakeholders and other supporters from the According Party back to the All Progressives Party in Iseyin.
Adeleke was received on Wednesday 31st January during the party’s bimonthly general meeting goes in Iseyin.
Hon. Anthony Ogunleke, the APC Chairman in Iseyin who received the returnees expressed joy and optimism over their defection. He welcomed them back to there political root, charging them to shun rumours, hearsay and similar propaganda which may leave cracks and disunity in the party.
Speaking on the local government election, Hon. Ogunleke urged all returnees to consider the next council election as an opportunity to collectively work in one accord to ensure the party’s chairmanship candidate, Hon. Akeem Olowoeko Arogede secures victory.
In a similar remark from a leader of the APC in Iseyin Baba Egbedokun described the defection of Hon. Adeleke as a case of a freeborns returning to their political root. He enjoined all party faithfuls to shun discrimination and unnecessary criticism, emphasising that politics was all about permanent interests as opposed to permanent friends or enemies.
While giving his submission, Hon Waheed Adeleke promised that he and his fellow returnees will adhere to the principles and guidelines of the party. He further assured that coming back to the party was for good. He alluded to the democratic imbalances and shortcomings that orchestrated their exit from the party, and expressed his gladness that these errors are been corrected.
Hon Adeleke expressed his gratitude to Baba Egbedokun and leaders of the party for the role they played when he aspired for the role of council chairman. He identified their struggles as the tool which helped secure his victory even in a PDP dominated terrain.
