As one of the activities of Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) the Psychosocial Support programme aimed at enhancing emotional, physical and socio-economic well-being of the vulnerables, in order to benefit maximally from intervening microprojects and ensure its ownership, maintenance and sustainability.
In his keynote address, the Agency’s Chairman, Hon Abideen Tokunbo Adeaga, ably represented by the Agency’s General Manager, Mr. Salau Jelili appreciated His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde who had graciously approved and funded the Agency to carry out intervention on basic infrastructures on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation. Presently in eleven (11) Communities, across the three senatorial districts, 38 micro-projects are being implemented by the Communities during this Omituntun 2.0, under Oyo State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (OYO-CARES).
He highlighted the communities as follows; Olunde-Ige (Oluyole LG) , Aynide 2 (Ibadan SWLG) , Oloro-Olomo (Ido LG) , Otesin-maye (Oyo East) , Aseyori (Oyo West) , Ayekale-Kalubi (Orire LG) , Ajumose (Iseyin LG) , Ifelanlo (Ibarapa North LG) , Alaseyori (Itesiwaju LG) , Ore-ofe (Olorunsogo LG) , and Alubarika-Asabari (Saki West LG) with interventions on community Health centres, School Buildings, Boreholes, Furniture and Medical equipment. Also, he added that Okeho had benefited immensely from OYCSDA even five Boreholes were drilled in 2022 during Omituntun 1.0.
He reiterated that the Psychosocial Support enhances access of vulnerables (Widows, Physically-challenged, Orphans, Aged and chronically- sick) to fully – participate in the implementation and maintenance of micro- projects, as well as improve their general well-being in the community.
However, Mr. Salau Jelili explained that the Board chairman commenced the programme at Akinyele/Lagelu constituency and HLA Special Basic School, Agodi Ibadan, on Thursday 21St December, 2023, which later extended to Oyo, Iseyin, Igbeti and Okeho, where foodstuffs and cash were distributed to the vulnurables, to improve their livelihood.
While distributing the Psychosocial support at okeho, the General Manager OYCSDA, Mr Salau Jelili, urged the beneficiaries, who came from nooks and crannies of Kajola LGA and its environs, such as Okeho, Ilero, Ayetoro-oke, Ilua, Isemi-ile, Imia, pupils from orphanage home, special Basic School and others, to reciprocate His Excellency’s gestures through prayers cooperation and support in taking the state from poverty to prosperity, as outlined in the Roadmap to Sustainable Development Omituntun 2.0
The other dignitaries in attendance includes OYCSDA Management Staff, Hon. Sulaiman Tijani (former Member House of Assemby), Alhaji Qasim Busari Awenlenje, (Proprietor Orphanage of mercy), Mr. Salami Tajudeen (Headteacher, ADS Eeyele, Okeho) Alhaji Moruf Fasasi and Mr Amuda (Headteacher, Special Basic School, Okeho).
