Governors of Oyo State Governor, and Osun State, Engineer Seyi Makinde and Senator Ademola Adeleke have Commissioned the 8.2km Agodi Gate- Old Ife Road project.
The road was Commissioned during a special event held at the Agodi Gate Roundabout earlier on Thursday.
Governor Seyi Makinde, while giving his address presented the completion of the project as a testament of his administration’s commitment to improve the state economy, especially as improving the economy through expansion is important for attaining sustainable development in the state.
The governor also added that his goal remains to upgrade cities and towns in Oyo state which has led to investment in infrastructural development to put Oyo zone on track for economic development.
Special guest of the occasion, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State while making his remarks identified Engineer Seyi Makinde as a trailblazer among southwest Governors. He called for regional collaboration for the development and deeper integration of southwest states.
The state Commissioner for Public Works and Transportation, Professor Daud Sangodoyin, who was also present at the commissioning described the previous single-lane road as inadequate due to the expansion of the city of Ibadan, and its consequences. He added that the dualisation of the road is to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow within that axis.
