…Over 500 beneficiaries receive rice, cooking oil, garri, spaghetti, others in Iseyin
As households continue to grapple with the rising cost of food, transportation and other basic necessities, the Member representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oyeshina Oyedeji, popularly known as O’Shine, has commenced the distribution of food items to constituents as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship.
The first phase of the intervention was held at the Iseyin Local Government Council Secretariat, where over 500 constituents received food packages comprising a 25kg bag of rice, five litres of groundnut oil, garri, spaghetti and tomato paste.
The intervention comes against the backdrop of increasing household expenses, worsened by the rising prices of petroleum products and their attendant impact on transportation, food and other essential commodities.
The distribution is expected to provide temporary relief to beneficiary households while complementing other interventions aimed at supporting residents of the federal constituency through the current economic challenges.
The programme was coordinated by the Personal Assistant to the federal lawmaker, Hon. Adedayo Akeem, popularly known as Alale, and witnessed by party leaders and stakeholders in Iseyin Local Government, led by Alhaji Musediq Adele alongside members of the party executive.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akeem disclosed that the Iseyin exercise was only the first phase of the initiative, assuring residents that similar distributions would be carried out in Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Local Government Areas.
According to him, the initiative reflects Hon. Oyedeji’s determination to maintain a people-centred approach to representation by responding to the immediate needs of constituents while continuing to pursue longer-term developmental interventions.
He stressed that although the distribution of food items could not completely eliminate the economic challenges confronting families, interventions of this nature could provide meaningful support to households at critical moments.
Hon. Akeem also highlighted some of the projects and programmes facilitated by the federal lawmaker since assuming office, particularly interventions in education, infrastructure, youth development, skills acquisition and human-capital development across the four local government areas.
He reiterated that Hon. Oyedeji would continue to prioritise programmes capable of creating opportunities and improving the welfare of the people, noting that effective representation must ultimately translate into tangible benefits for constituents.
Party leaders and supporters present at the programme applauded the lawmaker’s scorecard and expressed their support for his continued representation of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
For O’Shine, the message from the intervention remains clear: representation must stay connected to the everyday realities of the people.
As the food distribution programme moves to the other local governments within the constituency, Hon. Oyedeji has reaffirmed his commitment to a model of representation built around accessibility, responsive leadership and the welfare of the people.
“Our people remain at the centre of everything we do. We understand the challenges of the moment, and while we continue to pursue sustainable development and opportunities for our communities, we will not ignore the immediate needs of our people,” the lawmaker’s team stated.
