During his days in service there are countless testimonies of his kindness and genuine intentions to help.
Today we have many indigenes of Okeho in the Nigerian Customs Service due to his influence. After his retirement, on the home front, he has been in various committees working for the development of the community, including the recently constituted Okeho Security Council by the Egbe Omo Ibile Okeho.
Julius Olawuwo was born in January 15,1953, into the family of Late Pa. Michael Olawuwo Owolabi and Madam Comfort Asande Olawuwo.
His father was from the extended family of Pa. Owolabi Olukitibi of Apena Compound, Isia, Okeho.As a promising young boy, he started his elementary education at First Baptist Primary School, Isia, Okeho and passed out in 1966. He later proceeded to Okeho Iganna Grammar School, Meseole, Okeho where he obtained his First Leaving School Certificate in 1970.
Julius later, through the Exam Success Correspondence College, Yaba and Lagos passed his General School Certificate, Advanced Level in 1976. This paved the way for his admission into the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Bsc.) degree in Sociology in 1980. He proceeded for his Master of Science (Msc.) degree in the same discipline with specialisation in Deviant Behaviour (Criminology).
Mr. Olawuwo joined the Nigeria Customs Services after participating in the one year National Youth Service Programme in 1981. He started his career as a Supretendent of Custom II and rose to the rank of Comptroller of Customs. Having worked in different places and locations in Nigeria. He had served in various capacities in different parts of Nigeria. These include Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, Muritala Mohammad Airport, Ikeja, Kwara Command, Onne where he supervised Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC) and Nigeria National Liquidified Gas Project in Bonny Island, Nigeria Customs Service Board and in other places of importance.
Julius Olawuwo attended the Nigeria Customs Service combined Basic Revenue and Enforcement Course, Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA), Examining Officers Course, Workshop on Drug Trafficking, Civil Service Reforms Course, Transformation Initiative Leadership Course, Canada, Boarder Management Study Tour, Califonia, USA, Customs Administration Technique, South Korea and Valuation/Post Clearance Country, Lagos. These qualified him to be nominated to attend the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 36 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIISS), Kuru, Jos in Pleateau State.He retired in 2013 after a meritorious service.
Elder Olawuwo, having retired but not tired, he is the chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jolow Nigeria Limited. His company is one of the best freight forwarding, customs clearing & documentation agency in Nigeria operating at different port terminals.
Elder Olaniyi Olawuwo is a community leader to the core. He served as a member of the Okeho Centenary Celebration Planning Committee in 2017. He is the Chairman, Okeho Development Association (ODA) Alimosho Branch in Lagos State.
Through his efforts, ODA got involved in so many money gulping projects towards the development of Okeho. He is a member of the Okeho Consultative Forum and also a member of Okeho Security Council.He is a humble recipient of the Nigeria Customs Service Meritorious Award for Excellence and also a Jerusalem Pilgrim.
He is happily married to Mary Olufunke in September 8, 1984 and their marriage is blessed with four children. His hobbies are writing, reading and watching football.
